- plan: picnic by Charvak reservoir, Saturday in April, six classmates, leave at eight
- why changed: Friday night forecast, heavy rain, muddy road
- instead: Timur’s house, food we had prepared, board games, played late
- feeling: disappointed first, then enjoyed it more, people matter more than place
Band 6
I would like to talk about a plan I have to change時態錯誤:應為「had to change」 last April, a picnic by the Charvak reservoir on Saturday with six classmates from my course. We organise時態錯誤:應為「had been organising」 it for two weeks and everybody had a job, and I was in charge of the way用詞不精確:「route」更精準 and the transport. We agreed to leave at eight in the morning. But on Friday night the forecast say時態錯誤:應為「forecast said」 heavy rain for all weekend, and the road to the lake is very muddy, so we knew the plan was not good基本說法,限制了Lexical Resource的分數. We wrote many messages, and then we decide時態錯誤:應為「decided」 not to cancel and to go to my friend Timur’s house, which has a big living room. We took the food that we prepared, and Timur’s mother gave us two board games. I was disappointed first, because I worked hard for this plan and I wanted the lake, but at the end I enjoyed it more, because we played to late evening and nobody was afraid about the road. I learned that a good day is about people and not about the place.
Band 7
I’d like to talk about a plan I had to change last April: a Saturday picnic by the Charvak reservoir with six classmates from my course. We’d been organising it for a fortnight, everyone had a job, I was in charge of the route and transport, and we’d agreed to leave at eight in the morning. But on Friday night the forecast changed to heavy rain for the whole weekend, and the road to the lake can gets動詞形式錯誤:應為「can get」 very muddy, so it quickly became clear that the original plan had fallen through描述計畫落空的自然片語動詞. After a lot of messages, we decided to move everything to my friend Timur’s house, which has a big living room, instead of calling the whole day off正確使用「instead of」搭配動名詞. We brought the food we’d already prepared, and Timur’s mother lent us two board games. In the end, I enjoyed it more than I’d expected帶有反思的連接用語,回答了「explain」那一行: we played until late and nobody had to worry about getting home in the dark. I was disappointed at first, but it taught me that a good day depends on the people more than the place.
Band 8
I’d like to talk about a plan I had to change last April: a Saturday picnic by the Charvak reservoir with six classmates from my course. We’d been organising it for a fortnight, everyone had a job, I was in charge of the route and transport, and we’d agreed to leave at eight in the morning. But on Friday night the forecast changed to heavy rain for the whole weekend, and the road to the lake can get very muddy, so it quickly became clear that the original plan wasn’t sensible. After a lot of messages, we decided that, instead of calling it off, we’d move everything to my friend Timur’s house, which has a big living room. We brought the food we’d already prepared, and Timur’s mother lent us two board games. In the end, I enjoyed it more than I’d expected帶有反思的連接用語,回答了「explain」那一行: we played until late, nobody had to worry about getting home before dark, and we talked more than we would have outdoors自然使用的條件句省略. I was disappointed at first, but it taught me that a good day depends on the people far more than on the place.
- Band 6的時態失誤(「I have to change」、「We organise」、「forecast say」)在Band 7已經改正,Band 7用了「We’d been organising」和「we’d agreed」,Band 8則完全沒有。
- Band 6說「not good」和「the way」;Band 7用「had fallen through」和「instead of calling the whole day off」;Band 8加上「than we would have outdoors」,做條件句的比較。
- Band 6把感受放在一個平淡的句子裡;Band 7和Band 8以「In the end, I enjoyed it more than I’d expected」開頭,然後說明原因。
- Do you think it is better to plan carefully or to be spontaneous?
- Why do some people find unexpected changes stressful?
- Are young people today less likely to make long-term plans than their parents were?
- How do sudden changes affect people at work?
- Should schools teach students how to plan and how to adapt?
改變之前已經做好的安排,用過去完成式,例如「we'd agreed to leave at eight」;實際發生的事,用過去式。
