กรรมการสอบที่ให้คะแนน Lexical Resource (คลังคำศัพท์) จะสังเกตว่าผู้เข้าสอบใช้กริยาแค่ “study” กับ “learn” หรือมี collocation (คำที่มักใช้คู่กัน) ที่เจาะจงกว่าปรากฏขึ้นอย่างเป็นธรรมชาติ เช่น “cover the syllabus”, “academic pressure”, “a well-rounded education” พร้อมสำนวนที่ใช้ถูกต้องเป็นครั้งคราว เช่น “get to grips with a subject” สิ่งสำคัญคือวลีนั้นเหมาะกับประเด็นที่พูด ไม่ใช่แค่ฟังดูน่าประทับใจในตัวมันเอง

  • Part 1คำถามช่วงเกริ่นนำเกี่ยวกับชีวิตของคุณเอง เช่น “What subject did you enjoy most at school?”
Describe a subject you enjoyed at school, Describe a skill that took you a long time to learn
  • Part 3คำถามต่อเนื่องเชิงนามธรรม ซึ่งความแม่นยำสำคัญที่สุด เช่น “Should students be allowed to choose all of their own subjects?”

study hard put in the hours revisingระบุให้ชัดว่าใช้ความพยายามไปกับอะไร
a good student a diligent studentระบุคุณลักษณะจริงแทนการชมกว้างๆ
learn a lot of information absorb the materialวลีที่ใช้คู่กันตามธรรมชาติแทนวลีคลุมเครือ
do badly in a subject fall behind in a subjectบรรยายการเรียนที่ติดขัดได้เป็นธรรมชาติกว่า
get good marks do well academicallyฟังเหมือนภาษาอังกฤษพูดตามธรรมชาติ ไม่ใช่คำแปล
understand a subject well get to grips with a subjectสำนวนที่กรรมการสอบให้คะแนนเพราะพบได้ไม่บ่อย
give up studying drop out of schoolคำที่ใช้เรียกการออกจากระบบการศึกษาก่อนกำหนดได้ตรง
